Saffron Dyeing: This is my first video and it was done at night, 22:00 hours (10:00 pm). Please excuse the quality of the video and the fact that it took me a few days, 5 dye baths, and since I was dyeing late at night, and had only a few hours of sleep each time. What I learned about Saffron dye is that the fabric held best when stretched to dry. I probably needed more saffron and I needed to start with a mordant immediately in a warm dye-bath i.e. 120 degrees.  I did like the way the pink emerged and the final product was amazing.  The gold I sought never took place and thus I ended up dyeing with safflower in a saffron bath. I kept stating this was the last bath but I just kept going and going. Basically, I lied to myself about how many times I dyed the fabric. I didn’t reach full saturation point. Probably because one shouldn’t dye late at night in Alaska in the summer.
